Respect Based

Clients dealing with substance misuse, mental health or infectious disease are often disrespected. We felt so strongly that they deserved to be respected the same as all others, that we put it in our name- RESPECT Rx Pharmacy.

Patient Focused

You won’t find any specialty shampoos or the latest and greatest children’s toys in our pharmacies. We are here to focus on the health of our clients and we work hard to help them reach their goals.

Judgement Free

At Respect Rx Pharmacy, clients know they can be honest and open about their struggles in a judgement free environment. Our pharmacies provide a place where all of our clients can be free from stigma and marginalization.

Service Excellence

Marginalized populations often experience poor service. This should never happen, especially in healthcare settings. At Respect Rx Pharmacy, everyone receives the same great level of service.

History

While owning and operating a community pharmacy in a well off Ottawa neighborhood, Mark, Andrew, Frank and Don began to notice a growing, yet neglected condition in their city. Many people were coming to them for their prescriptions to help with their opioid misuse and as the number of patients grew, they started to realize that those with addiction issues were being treated very poorly by the health care system.

As they continued to serve upwards of 50 clients a day at their traditional pharmacy, Mark, Andrew, Frank and Don soon realized they wanted to try to make a difference for more people struggling with addiction.

In 2013, Respect Rx Pharmacy first opened it’s doors in the community of Vanier, just outside of Downtown Ottawa. Clients immediately noticed that it was different than most, if not all pharmacies they had ever been to before, with bright open spaces and smiling faces all around.

Respect Rx Pharmacy continued to grow and quickly became the pharmacy of choice for many organizations working with the most vulnerable members of the community.

As the opioid epidemic continued to grow in our communities, Respect Rx Pharmacy opened 4 other locations. Cornwall was opened in 2015, followed by Bells Corners in 2017, Byward Market in 2020 and Ottawa South in 2021.

Respect Rx Pharmacy’s original Vanier location moved across the street in 2021, to their beautifully renovated pharmacy at 45 Montreal Road. This location also serves as the head office for Respect Rx Pharmacy Group and Recovery Care.
